Sevcon motors ahead with key sales appointments

Sevcon has strengthened its sales team with two senior appointments as it looks to capitalise on growth opportunities in the global EV and hybrid vehicle markets.

The electric motor control and EV drivetrain system components specialist has added Mark Durrant (pictured left) and Jon Aitchison to its worldwide sales team.

Mark takes up the reins as Sevcon's new vice president of global sales with Jon being recruited as vice president of sales for UK and Asia.

Both bring a wealth of EV experience and will be based at Sevcon's UK headquarters in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.

Mark joins from Scottish battery maker Axeon and has held senior sales roles with several leading European brands over a 20 year career. He began his career as an electronic engineer in the Royal Air Force before driving sales at brands including Kodak, Adobe and AEA Technology.

Jon was a member of the management team that successfully launched and grew Comesys Europe Ltd and AVID vehicles - both of which were involved with electric and low carbon vehicle technology. He has also worked with many blue-chip companies around the world and has sales experience across several sectors including logistics, software and textiles.

Matt Boyle, CEO of Sevcon, said: "We're delighted to have two people of Mark and Jon's experience and quality join the team and are excited by the opportunities ahead.

"It's a busy time following the launch of our Gen4 series of high-tech motor controllers. Mark and Jon will help us to develop our technical sales activities as we extend our activities globally."
